Our therapy guinea pigs – Simba and Pumba are two very special members of the Chestnuts family.
They bring plenty of smiles and happy moments to our residents. For some residents, their visit brings back fond memories of pets they have cared for in the past. Watching Simba and Pumba explore, gently stroking them or simply enjoying their company can make a lovely difference to their day. Spending time with them offers companionship and gentle interaction, while also creating opportunities for conversation and connection.
As part of our care home activities in Weymouth, we enjoy providing opportunities that support residents’ wellbeing, encourage social interaction and create meaningful moments together. At our residential care home, spending time with Simba and Pumba is a simple but much-loved part of the everyday activities our residents enjoy.
Therapy guinea pigs can provide comfort and companionship, encourage social interaction and create a calm and enjoyable experience for residents.
The photo featured here was taken during Simba and Pumba’s second birthday celebrations in July 2026, when residents and staff enjoyed marking their special day with them.
At Chestnuts Residential Home, we believe the little things can make a big difference – and Simba and Pumba certainly bring plenty of joy to our home.
